2. Matters arising:
i) GP action plan to websiteThis appears to have been removed from the Bradford Dementia Action Alliance website, so will not be put on our website.
ii) Pharmacy relationship Niccola offered to visit the Pharmacy after this meeting to make contact and try to ensure a smooth transition. Update: Niccola met with Lydia Brun, the new pharmacist, who agreed to put flyers about the Memory Tree in with prescriptions. They need a new supply which Susan will drop off.
iii) O50s Group advice re TMT Niccola has written to the group and is awaiting a response. Update: They have shared our information with all their members and anticipate us being contacted.
Data protection statementThe meeting agreed the statement and Niccola will put it on our website. Susan suggested that a brief statement and opt-out option should be put at the end of the BCC messages she sends out. Susan has not heard from Julie D. re. consent forms for photos. Susan to follow up.
iv) Friends Together Niccola has phoned the woman who runs this and asked for an up to date programme to be sent to her and to be put on the mailing list.
3. Reports of events and visits since last meeting(a) The Memory Tree
i) Review from recent sessions: There have been four sessions since the last meeting. Word of mouth is proving to be the most effective means of recruiting attendees. There have been three new people with dementia attending recently, one of whom was referred by the Alzheimer’s Society. Susan has had two more enquiries but as yet these people have not attended.ii) Clare Mason visit (Bradford University) attended a session and was looking for case studies to film. People were given her contact details.
iii) Invitations to attend the Carers’ sessions: Niccola has contacted Alzheimer’s Society and Age UK.
iv) People with dementia attending on their own: It was agreed that people in the early stages of dementia were welcome to attend on their own. They would be asked to give emergency contact details. If it was felt their condition was worsening, we would try and get someone to accompany them.
(b) Coffee morning 11 AugustThanks to everyone who supported this event which raised £539.60. Niccola to put our thanks on the website.
(c) Burley Festival Healthy Living event 19 August
Thanks to all who volunteered to help run the stall. Not many people came into the library, mainly it is thought because the entrance was partly obscured by the Guide Dogs vehicle. Susan has thanked Andrew Barton for inviting us and waiving the charge. Norah was unable to organise T-shirts in time but will do so for the next public event.
(d) Dementia Friends information session 23 August
A big thank you to Paula for delivering a very successful session. Very worthwhile for the 3 who attended. 2 others had booked places but didn’t turn up. Susan will contact them when we arrange another session. Nobody attended from Coop, pharmacy, library or Coffee Station.
4. Forthcoming events(a)Ladies Please choir – Friday, 14 Dec, 7.30 at Menston Methodist Church. Concert will be dedicated to Ken and Val. Proceeds to BDAG. We are asked to provide a rep from BDAG to say a few words about the group.
(b)Prince’s Trust assistance: No further action unless they contact us again.
5.Treasurer’s Report
Bank balance is £6,877, not including the coffee morning proceeds or the recent MT donations. It was suggested that we could use some of this money to take people on outings e.g. the theatre, Bolton Abbey, Fountains Abbey etc. It was agreed to discuss this with MT attendees.
Quentin will take his documents to Barclays to complete becoming a signatory.
6. Correspondence and Publicity
Banner: This is in progress.
7. Any Other Business(a)The Coffee Station interest: It was decided to follow this up and ask them if they would like personalised training. Niccola will ask when she is next in.
(b)Art workshop: Susan will arrange a date for the session, probably in October.
Date of next meeting: Thursday 25 October at 2pm at the Parish Centre.
