5. Report of events and visits since last meeting
- (a) The Memory Tree
- (i) Feedback from recent sessions: Going well. John did a quiz at the last session. The British Legion had been asked if they would top up care home fees. They do not make ongoing payments but may give grants for one off items such as a wheelchair, but the person with dementia must have been in the armed forces.
- (ii) Numbers of individuals and couples attending: Numbers are holding up.
- (iii) Plans for future sessions: Members felt that it would be good if the quiz was linked to the activity for that session, or more general knowledge. It was noted that the quiz was for the people with dementia and their carers with the volunteers supporting and encouraging them to participate.
Niccola will contact AgeUK for a speaker.
- (iv) Finance: Income is £20 – 25 per session.
- (v) Memory Tree review: Elizabeth has suggested that she meets with the volunteers to ask them how they feel the sessions are going. This would be preceded by a presentation on the expectations of the Memory Tree. Dates suggested were 14 or 28 June. Susan to see which suits Elizabeth, then email the volunteers.
It was noted that the number of Memory Tree clubs remains at 5. The proposal to launch another in Baildon has not materialised.
- (b) Duke of Edinburgh Award training sessions
Paula has delivered these sessions. Feedback from the 16th was that some bits worked quite well. No feedback from DofE yet.

- c) Data protection: Susan is to ask Wendy Carpenter to have a look at the new rules and give us some advice.
- d) Grange Park Surgery website: There is a lot of useful information on the site, but it doesn’t mention BDAG or the Memory Tree. Niccola will contact them.
- e) Feedback from GP’s public meeting: They gave a talk on their funding and structures. Mental services for children is over stretched and there is a long waiting list for CAMHS. The CCG are looking at it. Social prescribing will be extended. They are hoping to have a link worker to link up with voluntary groups in the area, so GPs can steer them in that direction. Niccola to circulate notes from the meeting.
